Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 7 July 2025
1. Our Commitment
Attaru is committed to making its website usable by as many people as possible. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That means the site should be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust — regardless of the device, browser or assistive technology you use.
This statement covers the website at attaru.sbs.
2. Conformance Target
Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. This is the standard referenced by most public and commercial accessibility frameworks in Malaysia and internationally. We work toward this target on an ongoing basis.
3. Measures We Have Taken
The measures below reflect our current implementation. We review and update them when the site is updated.
- Semantic HTML: the site uses appropriate landmark elements (
<header>,<main>,<footer>,<nav>) and heading levels to give assistive technology a clear document structure. - Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements — navigation links, form fields, buttons, accordion items and the cookie dialog — are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone. Focus order follows the visual reading order.
- Colour contrast: text and interactive elements have been checked against a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
- Reduced-motion support: the site respects the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query. Where motion effects are present, they are disabled for users who have set this preference. - Descriptive alt text: all meaningful images include alt text that describes their content in context. Decorative images use empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
- Labelled form fields: all form inputs have explicit
<label>elements associated byforandidattributes. Required fields are identified both visually and in the label text. - Skip navigation link: a "skip to main content" link is available as the first focusable element on each page, so keyboard users can bypass the navigation quickly.
- Native HTML controls: we use native
<details>/<summary>for FAQ items and<dialog>for the cookie consent panel, so these elements work with screen readers without additional ARIA.
4. Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility could be improved:
- The embedded Google Maps iframe does not have full keyboard accessibility within the map itself. Users who need to interact with the map in detail are encouraged to use the Google Maps website directly with the address: Lot 12, Jalan Perusahaan 3, Kawasan Perindustrian Prai, 13600 Perai, Pulau Pinang.
- Some third-party advertising or analytics scripts loaded after consent may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We do not control the accessibility of third-party code.
We are actively working to address these limitations in future updates.
5. Feedback and Reporting an Issue
If you find a part of this site that you cannot access, or if you experience a barrier that this statement does not mention, please let us know. We take accessibility feedback seriously and aim to respond within five working days.
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: +60 4-397 6248 (Mon–Fri, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm)
When reporting an issue, it helps to include the web address of the page you were on, the assistive technology you were using (if any), and a description of the problem.
6. Date of This Statement
This accessibility statement was prepared on 7 July 2025. It will be reviewed whenever significant changes are made to the website.
