Warehouse Operations
That Read, Think
and Adapt
Attaru builds AI-driven reading and analysis tools for logistics and factory warehouses in Peninsular Malaysia. We work on the floor — pulling data from labels, studying movement patterns and writing the operating procedures that make the changes hold.
About Attaru
We started in Prai because that is where a lot of the work happens. Kawasan Perindustrian Prai is one of the busiest industrial estates in northern Malaysia, and the warehouses there face the same challenge that almost every 3PL and factory store faces: data that lives on physical labels and never quite makes it cleanly into the system. Staff key things in manually, errors accumulate, and the slotting that made sense two years ago no longer matches how the stock actually moves.
Attaru was set up to address exactly that. We are a small team — four people with backgrounds spread across industrial engineering, machine-vision development and operations consulting. We do not sell platforms or annual subscriptions. Each engagement has a defined scope, a set delivery period and a measurable output: a reading model, a slotting map or a written playbook. Most clients come to us through a referral from another Penang-area logistics operator.

Operations Playbooks & Training
Written procedures for receiving, put-away, picking and dispatch — in English and Bahasa Malaysia — with shift training delivered across your sites.
Enquire →What Makes the Work Different
Most warehouse software vendors sell you a licence. We sell you a finished outcome — a configured model, a revised map or a trained team — then hand it over and leave. Here is what that means in practice.
Fixed Scope, Fixed Weeks
Each service runs for a defined number of weeks. You know upfront when it ends and what you receive. There are no rolling retainers or scope expansions unless you ask.
Built Around Your Existing Kit
We configure the reading model for your label formats and connect the output to one WMS integration of your choice. We do not ask you to replace hardware you already own.
Bahasa Malaysia Deliverables
Shift guides and training materials are available in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, so they are actually usable by the people doing the work on the floor.
Accuracy Report Included
The label reading engagement ends with a written accuracy report and an operator card, so your team can see exactly what the model can and cannot read before going live.
Phased Relocation Planning
The slotting study delivers a phased relocation plan designed to fit around live operations — we do not hand over a map that requires you to shut the facility down to implement.
One Year Update Cycle
The operations playbook includes a quarterly update cycle for twelve months, so the documentation keeps pace as your processes change after the initial deployment.

From Photograph to System Record in One Step
The label reading service is designed around how receiving staff actually work — with a handheld device, under variable lighting, dealing with labels that are sometimes wrinkled or partly obscured. The model handles common Malaysian GS1, Code 128 and batch-format codes. When a read is uncertain, a confirmation screen pauses the flow and flags it for a human check rather than silently logging the wrong value.

Fewer Steps Between Picker and Carton
Walking distance is quiet waste — it does not appear in a P&L but it shows up in overtime and fatigue. The slotting study takes your order history, classifies stock by movement frequency using an ABC model, and runs pick-path simulations to find a revised arrangement that cuts travel distance without requiring new racking. You receive a proposed slotting map and a phased plan for moving stock while the facility stays operational.

Procedures That Survive Staff Turnover
Written procedures only work if the people using them can read and follow them without a trainer in the room. The playbook engagement produces illustrated shift guides in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, covering all five warehouse functions. Twelve training sessions spread across three sites and a supervisor competency check are included. The documentation is updated quarterly for one year so it does not go stale as processes evolve.
Learn more →How We Approach Each Engagement
We structure every project so the scope is clear before any work starts. Here is what that looks like.
Documented Scope Before Start
You receive a written scope document before work begins. No verbal agreements, no ambiguous deliverables.
Data Handled On-Site
Order history and facility data are processed within the agreed environment. We do not upload client inventory data to third-party cloud storage without written agreement.
Fixed Delivery Timelines
Three weeks for label reading, six for slotting, sixteen for the full playbook. Milestones are shared at kickoff and tracked openly.
Direct Team Access
You work directly with the person doing the analysis, not a project coordinator relaying messages. Questions get answered the same day.
Our Working Principles
Measure Before Recommending
We collect and analyse actual data from your facility before suggesting any change. Recommendations that come without numbers are not worth much on a warehouse floor.
Write It Down, Properly
Verbal knowledge walks out the door when staff change. Every engagement produces written documentation that a new employee can follow without asking anyone for help.
Small Team, Clear Responsibility
We keep the team small on purpose. Each engagement has one named lead who is responsible for the quality of the output, not a rotating cast of consultants.

EnquireHow an Engagement Runs
Scope Discussion
We spend the first session understanding your facility layout, current tools and the specific problem you want solved. From that, we write a one-page scope document that you agree to before any work starts.
On-Site Analysis
Data collection happens at your facility. For label reading that means capture testing on your actual hardware. For slotting, we pull order history and walk the aisles. For the playbook, we observe each function in operation before writing anything.
Delivery & Handover
You receive the configured model, the slotting map or the completed playbook at the agreed deadline. Handover includes a walkthrough session so your team understands what they have received and how to use it.
From Clients in the Field
Zulaikha A.
Operations Manager, 3PL — Butterworth
"The label reading setup took exactly three weeks as quoted. We had a wrinkled-label problem that was generating about forty manual corrections a day — that dropped to under five within a week of going live."
July 2025
Ravindran K.
Warehouse Manager, Manufacturing — Kulim
"We hired Attaru for the slotting study and the phased relocation plan made the difference. Our team moved stock aisle by aisle over five weeks without a single shutdown day. Walking distance per pick dropped noticeably in the second month."
18 June 2025
Lim Wei Liang
Supply Chain Director — Penang
"The playbook is the most used document in our three stores now. Supervisors actually reference it during handover. The Bahasa Malaysia version was important for us — having both languages meant every shift could read the same procedure."
